Community members are invited to attend a free screening of the documentary “Brand New, The Urban Horseman” this Thursday at the Southwest Art Center. The event, hosted by media personality Mary Gill, aims to shed light on ongoing issues surrounding zoning, eminent domain and property development on Butner Road in southwest Atlanta.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the film beginning promptly at 7 p.m. Immediately following the screening, Mary Gill will moderate a panel discussion and audience Q&A to further explore the themes of the documentary and provide space for residents to ask questions and share concerns.

“This film gives our community a chance to get informed about challenges happening right here in our own backyard,” Mary Gill said in the promotional announcement. “Admission is free, so come out, bring the whole family and be part of the conversation.”

The documentary highlights the experiences of urban horsemen and the impact of development decisions on longstanding cultural traditions in the area. Organizers say the event is designed to encourage civic engagement, promote understanding and empower residents with information about changes affecting their neighborhoods.

The screening will be held at the Southwest Art Center, located on Butner Road.

For more information, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating.
