Ms. Figueras, who typically hosts Thanksgiving at her home, took a different approach this year by traveling to Nashville with her family. After experiencing personal loss in the previous year, she and her loved ones decided to embrace the holiday with a fresh perspective—focusing on fellowship and gratitude, rather than traditional expectations. Ms. Figueras explained that by changing their setting, they hoped to create new memories and celebrate togetherness.

For those spending Thanksgiving without family or in need of a warm meal, Ms. Figueras shared several local dining options, including places offering free meals. The American Legion Post 160 in Smyrna and Presto in Snellville are providing free meals to anyone in need. In addition, Ms. Figueras recommended a range of restaurants in the Atlanta area that are offering Thanksgiving meals, from upscale buffets to more affordable three-course dinners. Among the top picks were Five Church in Midtown, Hobnob in Buckhead, and Marcus Bar and Grill in Old Fourth Ward.

Ms. Figueras also encouraged listeners to embrace creativity in their holiday plans. Whether dining solo or with others, she suggested considering unique venues, like holiday pop-up bars, for a festive atmosphere. Many local spots, including Blind Pig in Buckhead and Virtue Rooftop in Midtown, offer seasonal drinks and a cheerful setting, making them ideal choices for those seeking a lively holiday experience.

Beyond food, Ms. Figueras emphasized the importance of staying connected to others during the holiday season. She encouraged those who may be feeling isolated to consider volunteering at local food banks or shelters. By focusing on helping others, she believes individuals can shift their mindset and cultivate a sense of gratitude.

To stay up-to-date on holiday dining options and food recommendations, Ms. Figueras urged listeners to follow the AJC Dining section on social media or sign up for their weekly newsletter. Her insights on holiday dining, along with her encouragement to find joy in both giving and receiving, offered a thoughtful and uplifting perspective for listeners this Thanksgiving.
