Fox's American Idol (AI) alums, Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken from season two in 2003 have reunited for the "Twenty, The Tour" concert series that happens on May 6 at Mable House Barnes.
They stopped by On Point with Juandolyn Stokes this week to remind listeners that they are still a thing.
After his AI run, Aiken launched a political career because he says he wanted to get involved in public service.
"Politics was the wrong choice because obviously it is not working. Ruben talked me into returning to entertainment. This is much more inspiring than politics," he said.
Studdard says he has continued to tour since AI and he has a position at the University of Tennessee, where he is a professor of Music.
"I teach students about the music business and the things that come with it," said Studdard. And, he has been raising his son.
Aiken and Studdard agreed that the pandemic was difficult, but remaining connected to family and their friendship helped them both.
Audiences can look forward to fun songs they can sing along to in their upcoming show.
