MLK's 2020 Annual Commemorative Service

Hundreds of people packed Ebenezer Baptist Church for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Commemorative Service this week. The theme of the service this year was King's 2020 Vision-The Beloved Community: The Fierce Urgency of Now.
The services opened with a medley of spirituals and freedom songs led by Spelman College Organist, Dr. Joyce Finch Johnson.
Featured speakers included a diverse array of clergymen, politicians, local leaders, authors, and of course, CEO of The King Center, Dr. Bernice King.
International greetings were presented by The Honorable Anat Sultan-Dadon, Consul General of Israel of the Southeast. Locally, US State Senator Kelly Loeffler; Congressman Hank Johnson, Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, Atlanta City Council President Felicia A. Moore, and Ebenezer Baptist Senior Pastor, Rev. Raphael Warnock. Every speaker eloquently spoke about the impact of Dr. King's legacy. Many stressed the importance of taking action by following through with Dr. King's vision.
Miss Freedom Archie, a 6th grader from the Coretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy, gave rousing remarks about the fierce urgency to act now to protect young African American girls. Keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley, Senior Pastor of Alfred Street Baptist Church was passionate, poised and powerful. He reignited the spirit of Dr. King by challenging everyone to be fueled with the fierce urgency of now and remember the legacy of Dr. King and serve God's people and save the soul of America.
In addition to the service, The King Center hosted several events as part of the holiday celebrations and people from all over the country came out to participate. Listen as they share their thoughts on why it was important for them to remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
