Recently on "The Wake Up With Dee Morning Show," Host Dr. Dee Dawkins Haigler celebrated National Chocolate Day by spotlighting Atlanta’s sweetest Black-owned franchise Kilwins Chocolates.

Co-owner of Kilwins Chocolates Erica Perry joined the program to discuss their grand opening.

Ms. Perry and her husband, both Divine Nine members, purchased the Atlantic Station Kilwins nearly three years ago. They opened a second location three weeks ago in Madison Yards off the BeltLine.

The new shop at 907 Memorial Drive SE, Suite 116, features open windows revealing fresh fudge paddled on marble slabs and waffle cones made in-house. “You can see right in,” Ms. Perry said. “You can see all the sweets.

The grand opening featured a live DJ, face painting, complimentary dark-chocolate hot cocoa and a prize wheel, including free ice cream for a year.

Ms. Perry, who left corporate life for entrepreneurship after family challenges, highlighted Dubai-inspired treats like pistachio-kataifi buckeyes.

Both locations offer heritage chocolates, caramel corn and multiple ice cream flavors. Ms. Perry noted franchise growth promotes ownership diversity.
