Amazon surprises metro Atlanta students with $40,000 scholarships

Several metro Atlanta students are recipients of scholarships from Amazon. The $40,000 awards are being given to 8 students from Atlanta, DeKalb County Schools, and Clayton County.

The scholarships are through Amazon's Future Engineer program.

Tuesday's event was held at Junior Achievement Discovery Center Atlanta, Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Superintendent Dr.Lisa Herring, DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Interim Superintendent Dr. Vasanne S. Tinsley and representatives from Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS), were among those celebrating the students.Amazon Hands Out Scholarships To Metro Kids

The 2023 Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship recipients are: Montrell Mabry Jr., KIPP Atlanta Collegiate High School – Atlanta Public Schools; Karen Palacios Echeverria, North Atlanta High School – Atlanta Public Schools; Amiri Jones, Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts – Clayton County Public Schools; Daniellange Auguste, Arabia Mountain High School – DeKalb County School District; Toni Dismuke, Arabia Mountain High School – DeKalb County School District; Isaiah Fleming, Arabia Mountain High School – DeKalb County School District; Bryan Shook, Lakeside High School – DeKalb County School District; and Abraham Alemu, Tucker High School – DeKalb County School District.

The students are eight of 21 Amazon Future Engineer scholarship recipients in Georgia and 400 across the country to receive the award.
