
When Southern Crescent Women in Business holds its annual conference this week it will be a milestone moment. The organization, which labels itself as "an established network and support system for women-owned businesses" is celebrating 5 years in the community.
According to founder Ariel Shaw "We are here to provide unequivocal support to women-owned businesses and women in business throughout the Southern Crescent."

Thursday's business conference will include panel discussions on various topics including: government, wealth, and supplier diversity and procurement. Several federal agencies are expected to be represented including the Small Business Administration. There will also be a funding pitch competition.

The organization has grown to include chapters in Henry, Fayette, Clayton, and DeKalb counties.
The conference is Thursday, August 31st, at Merle Manders Conference Center in Stockbridge and will be followed by a wearable arts gala and awards program. More information is available on the SCWIB website.
