Property developer Omar Ali joined The Rashad Richey Morning Show to discuss how blighted properties lead to rising crime rates and hinder the progress of communities.
Ali spoke specifically about the Lakewood Community in Atlanta, GA and the 56% vacancy rate that has crippled their local economy. Ali said “there is direct connection between crime and these blighted communities”. According to community members, Ali and his development firm have been a catalyst for jobs and economic growth. Currently, his commercial project at 1800 Jonesboro Rd in Atlanta, GA provides the majority of employment in the Lakewood area.
