"First Bell with Dr. Dee" Debuts on WAOK with a Powerful Conversation on Closing the Digital Divide in Education
ATLANTA, GA – August 4, 2025 — Dr. Dee Dawkins-Haigler kicked off her newest segment, First Bell with Dr. Dee, on her popular Wake Up with Dee Morning Show on News & Talk WAOK with an eye-opening conversation about technology, equity, and education in the Black community.
The inaugural guest, Dr. Marcus Borders, Learning Innovation Specialist at Ed Farm, brought dynamic insight into how technology can be used to both empower and uplift underserved communities—if implemented equitably and intentionally.
Together, Dr. Dee and Dr. Borders explored one of the most pressing issues in education today: the digital divide. While advancements in technology have opened new possibilities for teaching and learning, many Black students and educators continue to face barriers to access, from reliable internet to sufficient digital literacy.
