The mayor of Forest Park, Angelene Butler joined Juandolyn on, OPWJS to discuss her "humbling" journey to become mayor. Butler said her initial plan was to become a dentist, but she could not make the difference she wanted working in people's mouths' so she switched to politics.
She describes her leadership style as transformative. She believes people did not know how to take her at first because she led with her pedigree, but believes she can relate to the people because she too has also experienced challenges like being unemployed, underemployed, faced foreclosure, and being a teenage parent.
Since then, she has learned to lead with her heart. She is the first woman and 24th mayor to hold this position. She welcomes Juandolyn's Healthier U Fair this weekend at Starr Park in Forest Park.
