The all-new 2024 Subaru Impreza RS, featured in the latest AutoNsider episode, stands as a testament to the model's 30-year legacy of delivering a value-packed compact car with the added benefit of Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The sixth-generation Impreza, particularly in the RS trim, brings forth a host of enhancements, showcasing a sportier 5-door hatchback design, a stiffer chassis, and notable performance improvements.

Design and Chassis: The 2024 Impreza has undergone a fresh, sporty redesign built upon the Subaru Global Platform. The 10-percent increase in torsional rigidity, complete inner frame construction, and additional structural adhesive result in a more dynamic performance, smoother ride, and quieter cabin. The exterior design, especially in the RS trim, features unique elements like RS badging, 18-inch alloy wheels, and dark gray finishes, giving it a distinctive and bold appearance.

Performance and Handling: A significant highlight of the RS trim is the 2.5-liter 182 hp SUBARU BOXER® engine. This powerhouse adds a new dimension to the Impreza's performance capabilities. Paired with a Lineartronic CVT with an 8-speed manual mode, the RS offers an almost thrilling driving experience. The inclusion of the SI-Drive performance management system, sport-tuned suspension, and 18-inch alloy wheels further accentuates the Impreza RS's attempt at adding a bit of performance and handling.

Safety: Safety remains a top priority for Subaru, with the 2024 Impreza featuring the latest version of the award-winning EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. This includes Automatic Emergency Steering, Blind-Spot Detection, Lane Keep Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The addition of the Rear Seat Reminder demonstrates Subaru's commitment to preventing child and pet entrapment.

Comfort and Convenience: Inside, the cabin of the Impreza RS prioritizes occupant comfort and interaction with the vehicle. The supportive front seat design, dual-zone heating/cooling control, and available 10-way power front driver seat with lumbar support showcase the attention to detail in enhancing the driving experience. The introduction of the 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia Plus system with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ on the Sport and RS trims further adds to the convenience and connectivity. However, the lack of A/C vents in the second row makes it more difficult to recommend the Impreza for a small family.

In-Vehicle Technology: Subaru's commitment to modern technology is evident in the 2024 Impreza. The 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia Plus system not only provides a high-resolution touchscreen but also integrates seamlessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The available SUBARU STARLINK™ Safety and Security Connected Services offer a range of features, from emergency assistance to remote vehicle configuration, elevating the Impreza's technological prowess.

With its sporty design, enhanced performance, and a comprehensive suite of safety and technology features, the Impreza RS offers a compelling package for driving enthusiasts seeking a balance between excitement and practicality.
