Entrepreneurs Carla Morrison and Tia Jakes joined the "Wake Up With Dee Morning Show" to highlight upcoming community events celebrating Black history, culture, and cuisine.

Morrison spoke on the Valentine’s edition of the Reality ATL restaurant tour, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13. The event invites participants to visit four Black-owned restaurants across Atlanta to sample signature dishes, connect with friends and family, and enjoy a curated cultural experience. Tickets are available at chitchatcommunications.biz.

Food is my love language, and I believe shared experiences build real relationships,” Morrison said. “We just go, we sample the food, we sit, we laugh, we talk. It’s a beautiful experience for everyone involved.”

The Freedom Ride, set for Saturday, Feb. 28, honors the civil rights movement and retraces key historical sites between Atlanta and Montgomery. Jakes explained that the journey allows participants to experience history firsthand and connect past struggles for racial justice to the present. The trip departs from Austell at 9 a.m., with chartered buses provided and visits to the Legacy Sites Museum, known for its immersive exhibits.

This is a personal act of witness and remembrance for us,” Jakes said. “We want the riders to really observe history, to connect the past with the present, and to ensure we continue to fight for our freedoms today.

The Freedom Ride includes partnerships with multiple organizations, including Cool Kids Committee, International Young Chefs, My Sister’s Keeper, Rue La La Day Tours, and Honey Baked Ham. Participants will enjoy community engagement, prize raffles, and a planned Q&A session with civil rights attorney Fred Gray Sr., who represented Rosa Parks.
