It was supposed to be a normal walk outside with the family dog, but 5-weeks later Trinity Steverson remains in a coma-like state at North Gwinnett Medical Center.
According to cousin Taylor Staggers, the 21 year old suffered a pulmonary embolism on January 6th. After noticing that Trinity had not returned from the walk, her father, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Derick Steverson found her unresponsive. The P-E led to a heart attack.
"We are very grateful to the staff of North Gwinnett Medical Center," says Staggers. She adds that the metro Atlanta hospital has done plenty for Trinity, and now their hopes rest with doctors in Houston, Texas, who feel they can help.
The family is seeking support in helping get Trinity transported to the TIRR Memorial Hermann Outpatient Medical Clinic. There is a gofundme for donations. As of Thursday afternoon $35,260 had been raised of the $50,000 goal.
A 2018 graduate of Archer High in Gwinnett, Trinity was on track to graduate from Kennesaw State University in May. A finance major, Trinity, according to the family had been actively interviewing with major financial institutions and banks when the incident occurred.
