The couple's journey began in 1974 during a conference in Atlanta, where they engaged in deep discussions that helped solidify their connection. Their ability to communicate openly about their beliefs and values has been a cornerstone of their marriage, allowing them to navigate challenges effectively. A notable principle they emphasized is the importance of resolving conflicts promptly, ensuring they never go to bed angry.
Both Dr. Simama and Nisha Simama have made significant contributions to their community. Dr. Simama currently writes a column for Governing Magazine and serves as a senior fellow with a think tank based in California. Nisha Simama is actively involved in the Atlanta Urban Design Commission and is a board member of HEAL, a community health organization. Their shared dedication to public service has strengthened their bond, as they view their partnership as a platform for making a positive impact.
A focus on friendship is another crucial element of their relationship. The couple enjoys spending quality time together, participating in activities such as tennis and yoga, and listening to music. They believe that fostering joy and maintaining a lighthearted spirit has contributed significantly to the longevity of their marriage.
