"Each year I have mothers show-up in frustration needing support with raising and guiding their sons," says DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson.
Cochran-Johnson is partnering with the DeKalb County School District and the DeKalb County 100 Black Men to host the 3rd Annual Lock-in for Life. The Commissioner tells Audacy Atlanta's Maria Boynton the program is designed to promote healthy relationships among middle and high school teen males.
Andre Deas President of 100 Black Men of DeKalb says "we're trying to rerach out to our young men of color to make sure they stay grounded and focused in regards to the things that black men face everyday." Male professionals, civic leaders, attorneys and community members encourage the teens to take charge of their lives according to Cochran-Johnson.
The four-hour event will be held Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, from 6 to 10 p.m., at Redan High School, 5247 Redan Rd, in Stone Mountain.
