On the second year following the death of her son Ahmaud Arbery, Wanda Cooper Jones attended a vigil in Marietta, a suburb of Atlanta. The vigil Wednesday was hosted by Cobb County District Attorney Flynn Broady. It was Broady's office that handled the prosecution for the state in the initial trial against the trio convicted of chasing and killing Arbery.

The three white male residents of south Georgia were sentenced to life in prison on state and federal charges for the February 23, 2020, murder of Arbery.
At the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta Wednesday, Cooper-Jones became emotional at one point saying "I'm emotionally tired but God is still good."
During the ceremony, Cooper-Jones was presented a resolution which, as approved by the Georgia state House of Representatives, names February 23 of each year as 'The Ahmaud Arbery Day' in Georgia.
