Matthew Zadok Williams family says he should be alive today after encounter with Dekalb County Police Dept. Doctors are saying that Williams would have survived the gun shot wound he sustained if the Police Officers would've rendered aid to Williams. Matthew Zadok Williams, 35, of Decatur, was shot twice and killed by DeKalb County police inside of his own home.

Police approached Williams at his home where he lunged at one of them with a knife, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation press release. There was a scramble with one of the officers, another officer fired a shot at Williams, who ran away, but then returned to his home and entered the house by breaking through a second-story window.

The Family will be holding a Candle Light Vigil Friday April 23 at 7pm at Freedom Park Moreland Ave NE & North Ave NE Atlanta, GA 30308
