Recently on "The WAOK Morning Show" with special guest host Shar Bates, Business Development Manager at Decide DeKalb Authority Joshua Williams, joined the program to discuss his pivotal role in advancing workforce development initiatives in the community.
Mr. Williams also emphasized the importance of his Industry Ready Pre-Apprenticeship Program, which prepares high school seniors for direct entry into the workforce. In collaboration with Georgia Piedmont Technical College, this program provides hands-on training aligned with local employers' needs, ensuring students are equipped with relevant skills.
The discussion underscored the necessity of apprenticeships and trade programs, which often go unnoticed by young people until later in their careers. By introducing these concepts early, the pre-apprenticeship initiative seeks to give students a competitive advantage. Mr. Williams stressed the importance of mentorship and community support in guiding youth through their career paths.
Collaboration among local businesses, educators, and community organizations was also a focal point of the conversation. Mr. Williams highlighted that achieving workforce development goals requires a collective effort from all stakeholders to prepare the next generation for the job market.
