Wednesday, February 23, will be observed as Ahmaud Arbery Day in Georgia thanks to a Georgia state House resolution. The day will be recognized in the state every February 23 forever.

Metro Atlanta State House Representative Sandra Scott introduced the resolution. Rep. Scott tells Audacy Atlanta's Maria Boynton the day will recognize Arbery who was murdered by 3 individuals who chased him down as he ran through a neighborhood near Brunswick, GA, on February 23, 2020.

Found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Arbery, Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael, and William "Roddie" Bryan are currently being tried on federal hate crime charges. Arbery was out for a run when he was shot and killed.

"The way that they murdered and took this man out of here, he should have this honor. It was the right thing to do," says Scott adding, "we want everyone to walk 2.23 miles that day and to use the hashtag I still run with Maud." (#Istillrunwithmaud)

Scott represents portions of Clayton and Henry counties in the 76th District.
