For more than 2 years, Fulton County has been scrutinized for its handling of the 2020 election. The investigation is now closed after the Georgia State Election Board cleared the county of any wrongdoing.
Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts tells Audacy Atlanta's Maria Boynton, "They were all throwing rocks at Fulton County, but we withstood it all. We stayed focus." Former President Donald Trump had accused county election workers in Atlanta of counting fake mail-in ballots.
In a statement Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections Chair Cathy Woolard said “I would like to thank our hard-working staff in the Department of Registration and Elections for their excellent work." She added “I also want to acknowledge our Board members for their collaboration and cooperation during this period of intense scrutiny.”
The investigation was conducted by investigators with the Georgia Secretary of State's office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and special agents with the FBI.
