Fulton County Commissioner Marvin Arrington Jr. joined the “Wake Up With Dee Morning Show” to address an FBI raid at the county’s elections hub, raising concerns about election security, chain of custody and what he described as a broader threat to democratic processes.
Commissioner Arrington confirmed that federal agents arrived unannounced at the Fulton County elections hub in Union City with a search warrant seeking original election materials from the 2020 presidential election. According to Commissioner Arrington, county officials had no prior notice of the raid and were surprised by the federal government’s decision to pursue physical records that are already sealed under court supervision.
The commissioner noted that the same records sought through the search warrant were previously the subject of civil litigation, during which a judge indicated the materials could be released if properly requested. Commissioner Arrington said no such request was made, and instead, federal authorities pursued a criminal warrant for records tied to an election that has already undergone multiple audits and recounts.
Commissioner Arrington, emphasized that the 2020 election results in Fulton County were repeatedly verified by state and independent reviews, including audits conducted under Republican leadership. He stressed that the election had long been certified as free and fair and questioned the timing and justification of a federal investigation occurring six years after the election.
He warned that removing original ballots and election materials creates serious risks, particularly when those documents contain sensitive voter information. Arrington said county leaders are exploring legal options to limit the scope of the warrant, prevent the materials from leaving Georgia and secure forensic copies of any seized records to preserve evidentiary integrity.
“This is a full frontal attack on democracy,” Commissioner Arrington said.
Throughout the interview, Commissioner Arrington described the raid as part of a broader effort to undermine confidence in local election systems. He expressed concern that federal authorities bypassed established legal procedures and ignored statute-of-limitations constraints tied to the alleged violations cited in the warrant.
Commissioner Arrington also addressed public confusion and political division surrounding election integrity, responding to callers who raised longstanding claims about fraud. He reiterated that repeated investigations have failed to uncover evidence that would alter election outcomes in Fulton County, a jurisdiction with a well-documented Democratic voting base.
The commissioner said the county is working closely with legal counsel to challenge the warrant and protect voter records, including filing motions to restrict how the materials are handled and ensuring transparency around what was taken. He stressed that preserving public trust in elections requires adherence to lawful processes rather than actions that generate fear or uncertainty.
