On Point with Juandolyn Stokes welcomed award winning podcaster and personal finance educator, Jamila Souffrant who shared easy strategies families can use to stretch their grocery dollars.
“Food cost has risen 8%” so Soffrant encourages families to” buy in bulk, buy store brands, shop with a list and embrace technology and coupons.”
There is no doubt that inflation is making it harder and harder for families to afford enough groceries to feed their families, but also to purchase healthy foods.
According to the USDA, 13.5 million U.S., households were unable to acquire enough food at some point in the last year.
“Everyone should have access to food. No one should go hungry,” said Souffrant.
But some families live in food deserts making access to food difficult. The alternative is unhealthy food choices found in low budget stores or convenient stores.
Door Dash has expanded its services to include grocery deliveries, which can be used with SNAP and EBT benefits.
Souffrant encourages families to use the Door Dash app, which includes zero delivery with their bash pass, plus you can get two free months with the dash pass.
