Now that former U.S. President Donald Trump and his 18 co-defendants have surrendered to authorities in Atlanta, what's next?

Former DeKalb County (GA) District Attorney Robert James, now in private practice, says the arraignment process will begin. "They're coming before the judge and being formally made aware of what the charges are," says James.
Trump may be required to appear in person at that proceeding as well.. Prosecutors are reportedly pushing for his arraignment to happen the week of September 5, 2023.

Trump and 18 co-defendants are accused of allegedly trying to overturn his 2020 election loss in Georgia.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis gave the 19 until noon Friday, August 25, 2023, to turn themselves in after they were indicted on August 14, 2023, by a state grand jury.
