Recently on "Wake Up With Dee" Host Dr. Dee Dawkins-Haigler welcomed national leaders of Jack and Jill of America, inc. National President Darlene McGhee Whittington, National Vice President Ily J. Houston, National Treasurer Dr. Deidre S. Lindsey, National Program Director Tasha B. Penny, National Recording Secretary Tamika Henderson and National Corresponding Secretary Vanessa Caston LaFleur to celebrate their Founders Day and discuss their commitment to community empowerment.

Dr. Haigler initiated the interview by highlighting the importance of the Jack and Jill of America Foundation, the organization's philanthropic arm. National Treasurer Dr. Lindsey explained that the foundation raises approximately $2 million annually, providing grants and scholarships to support African-American leadership, particularly in education and STEM fields. They also featured discussions on various programs that serve children aged 2 to 19. These initiatives include health programs, social engagement activities, and community service projects, all designed to promote leadership skills and civic responsibility among young members.

National President Darlene McGhee Whittington emphasized the organization's commitment by stating, "We created a new committee called the Future Black Legislators of America," aiming to empower children interested in legislative careers. She further noted, "We are creating an incubator of little Black children who want to make future laws," showing the organization's dedication to leadership development among youth. Additionally, they elaborated on their partnerships with organizations such as the United States Tennis Association, which aims to provide free tennis lessons and equipment for children from diverse backgrounds. They also emphasized the importance of financial stewardship and community investment.
When asked by a caller how they are able to fund these powerful endeavors, Dr. Lindsey highlighted that disciplined and strategic financial management empowers the organization to fund critical programs and grants effectively.
Dr. Haigler also spoke with them about their advocacy efforts through initiatives like the Pink and Blue Agenda. This agenda focuses on legislative priorities and social justice issues, aiming to create positive change within the community.
