Jamida Orange, daughter of late civil rights pioneer James Orange, said "58 years later we are still fighting for what they were fighting for."

Orange was among the hundreds gathered outside the King Center Saturday in Atlanta to mark the 58th Anniversary of the March on Washington and the Historic "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The March On For Voter Rights was to protest legislation in various states which critics say supresses the votes of minorities by making it more difficult for them to vote.  Similar events were held across the country.

In Atlanta there were various speakers during the pre-march session including former National NAACP President Ben Jealous and U.S. Representative Nikema Williams.

Lead by longtime civil rights activist Rev. Dr. Gerald Durley, the march started in front of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Sweet Auburn and ended a few blocks away at the John Lewis Mural.

The march had been planned to go to Centennial Olympic Park but organizers say it was shortened because of COVID-19 concerns.
