On Point with Juandolyn Stokes welcomed Shannon Mills, CMS Regional Administrator to encourage listeners to meet the extended deadline, January 16th, 2024 for Open Enrollment to Healthcare.gov. Those who enroll by this deadline will have coverage by February 1, 2024.
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has given people access to expanded financial assistance through Healthcare.gov. The IRA provides financial assistance for everyone who buys their own individual or family health insurance through the Marketplace and is otherwise eligible to receive a tax credit to reduce premiums through 2025.
According to Mills, four out of five consumers who make between $22,000-$30,000 annually can get coverage for $10.00 or less. These are quality healthcare plans that include doctor’s visits, E.R. services, prescription drugs and more.
“The deadline was extended to push as many Americans as possible to get covered.,” said Mills. The extension was also made possible because of the IRA.
There is still time to make changes to your current plan or select a new plan.
Consumers can visit Healthcare.gov to enroll or to seek help with getting enrolled by a qualified professional.
Mills says all states are going through a Medicaid redetermination therefore, if you receive Medicaid, please watch out for mail from Medicaid that you must respond to see if you still qualify.
