Dan Correa, CEO of the Federation of American Scientists joined On Point with Juandolyn Stokes to give advice to parents on getting their child motivated to learn more about STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education opportunities.
According to recent research, 75% of Gen Z youth are interested in STEM occupations, less than half say they have engaged in hands-on STEM learning classroom activities.
STEM careers are growing and over the next seven years, the economy will add over a million STEM jobs, says Correa.
He adds,"These roles pay more than others, which is also a reason why parents should be thinking hard about how to get their kids excited about STEM.
Some potential STEM career opportunities include IT, computer science, cyber security, web design, which are growing rapidly, very promising, and offer handsome compensation, and they will be the backbone of the American economy.
