This week on, OPWJS, Law and Legal with CK Hoffler, Juandolyn was joined by Jonathan Jackson, National Spokesman for Rainbow PUSH; Ben Crump, Civil Rights Attorney and Attorney for the family George Floyd, and Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd.
Each guest shared their perspective of Derek Chauvin's trial and the implications for our community. Jackson believes the large disparities in income, housing etc. contribute to the systemic racism that is pervasive in Minnesota. Crump said the bottom line in this case is that Chauvin's actions toward Floyd were not permissible.
Floyd shared that for him being in the courtroom every day is an emotional rollercoaster because you see your brother die over and over again. He added, his brother's death has left "a hole in our hearts and it take a lot of faith to get through this." CK concluded by saying we will not stop until the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is passed.
