Georgia Minority Leader, James Beverly joined On Point with Juandolyn Stokes on behalf of the White House’s Initiative for the Office of Gun Violence Prevention’s Safer States Legislative Convening.
Beverly, who represents Macon, Ga was one of almost 100 legislators from across the country who had a first of its kind meeting at the White House to discuss gun violence, according to Beverly.
He added, one of his areas of concern is: How to address gun safety in a red state?
In fact, he named three primary areas of concern around the subject of gun safety including: Do we need access to assault weapons, how do we store guns [to protect children], and how do we address the threat to school safety?
Beverly also called for a ban on ghost guns, as well as the removal of assault weapons.
One of the things Beverly said we can do for our community is: “When you see something, say something.”
Other discussions around gun safety included mental health, safe gun storage, and active shooter drills.
