On Friday on, OPWJS Juandolyn was joined by children's author and illustrator, Daria Peoples Riley.
Her latest book, America My Love, America My Heart is a reflection of her own experiences as a child and experienced racism for the first time at 6 years-old when she was called the N-word by a classmate. Riley says, "America provides opportunities and freedoms, yet it challenges the very things it stands for."
She adds that it is her goal as a children's writer to capture the heart of a child through her adult experiences. This book, which is available everywhere books are sold transcends age and transcends race.
