On Thursday morning, Monica Kaufman Pearson joined the Rashad Richey Morning Show to promote the 100-year anniversary of her beloved Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and the 40-year anniversary of the Ivy Community Foundation, the branch of AKA that focuses on educational scholarships and community service.

Kaufman serves as president of the Ivy Community Foundation, and when asked by Dr. Richey why she finds the time and desire to be so involved with such great organizations and projects, Monica gave a very heartwarming response.

“My mom” was beginning of the answer provided to Dr. Richey.

Monica continued by saying, “Hattie (her mom) would say, your talents are a gift. Gifts are to be given away. That’s my why”

As the conversation between Dr. Richey and Kaufman Pearson, she revealed what makes Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. so special to her when she said, “I believe in the sorority so much because it’s about making an impact on the people who live around us.”

Lastly, just as the conversation was about to come to an end, Monica revealed another passion project that she is currently involved in that caught Dr. Richey’s attention greatly.

The current home of the Ivy Community Foundation, located at 3850 Stone Road, Atlanta, GA 30331 is in need of upgrades and renovations.

That was all Dr. Richey needed to hear, as he committed to Monica that The Rashad Richey Morning Show would be dedicated to helping Monica, AKA Sorority and the Ivy Community Foundation all the help he could provide to get the building up to standards.
