State Rep. Lydia Glaize, who represents Georgia’s 67th District, joined the “Wake Up With Dee Morning Show” on Feb. 11 to discuss legislation supporting men’s prostate cancer awareness and prevention during the 2026 legislative session.

Rep. Glaize, elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2022, has built a reputation as a community-centered lawmaker focused on education, public health and equitable access to resources. She currently serves on the Appropriations, K-12 Education and Higher Education Committees.

Rep. Glaize discussed House Bill 373, legislation she sponsored in support of men’s prostate cancer awareness. The measure aligns with broader efforts to address health disparities, particularly among Black men, who face disproportionately higher prostate cancer diagnosis and mortality rates.

Her work on prostate health builds on a legislative record that prioritizes well-being and access. In previous sessions, Rep. Glaize sponsored House Bill 59 to lower Georgia’s student-to-counselor ratio and House Resolution 68 to modernize the state’s school funding formula. During the 2025 session, she secured funding for students with disabilities, including COMP NOW housing waivers, championed workforce development pathways and advocated for environmental protections.

Before her election to the Georgia House, Rep. Glaize served locally as a Fairburn City Councilwoman and Mayor Pro Tem, where she focused on infrastructure improvements, small business growth and youth programming. Her state-level work reflects that same emphasis on strengthening families and expanding opportunity.

The discussion touched on the need for early detection and education around prostate cancer. Public health advocates have long noted that awareness campaigns and routine screenings are critical to improving outcomes. By sponsoring HB 373 and elevating the conversation, Rep. Glaize aims to reduce stigma and encourage men to prioritize preventative care.
