On Thursday morning, United States Senator for the State of Georgia Jonathan Ossoff joined The Rashad Richey Morning Show to focus the new bipartisan bill to protect children from online sexual abuse and exploitation, that he along with Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) have introduced into legislation.

This new bill, officially called the Report Act, will require any social media platform or online service that has any knowledge of child abuse or sexual exploitation to report the information to a law enforcement agency or possibly face legal action against them for not complying with the new law.

But Sen. Ossoff’s mission to keep the children of the state of Georgia safe and protecting from predators does not stop there.

In addition to the Report Act, Senator Ossoff has launched an investigation reform that will focus on child abuse and/or exploitation in the foster care system in the state of Georgia.

“The state takes children into its care, and if those kids are facing abuse and neglect while they are in the care of the state, that is a dire, dire matter” said Sen. Ossoff to Dr. Rashad Richey when emphasizing why this new legislation is so important to his mission of child safety.

Senator Ossoff also passionately said to Dr. Richey, “Children who are amongst the most vunerable in our society are in the state’s care, and the state has the most sacred obligation to look out for them.”

Lastly, before the senator finished his visit with The Rashad Richey Morning Show, he thanked and commended Dr.
Richey for his continued efforts as a journalist to discover and report wrong doings and injustices.
