When the Falcons lost to the Bucs in Week 17 to finish the season at 4-12, they were locked in for the fourth-overall pick in the NFL draft, but still had a chance to move up to third.

To get the third-overall pick, the Falcons needed the Texans to upset the Titans in a late afternoon kickoff, and it almost happened.

The Texans kicked a field goal to tie the game at 38 with just 18 seconds left. And while it looked like the game was headed to overtime, they gave the Titans just enough time for a field goal attempt to win the game.

Sam Sloman has been on the Titans practice squad since late November. And due to Tennessee's usual kicker, Stephen Gotskowski, being placed on the COVID list, Sloman was activated for the first time on Sunday.

Sloman is from the Atlanta area, playing on the soccer team for Pace Academy before trying football his junior year. Sloman eventually went to Miami (OH) before being drafted by the Rams in in the seventh round of the 2020 draft.

While Sloman's kick pushed the Falcons back to the fourth-overall pick in the draft, there were certainly some family and friends in the Atlanta-area that were cheering for the biggest moment in the 23-year old Sloman's career.

Sloman's kick clinched the AFC South for the Tennessee Titans and possibly his spot in Titans lore.
