The Atlanta Falcons currently rank in the top ten in total offense, rushing offense, passing offense, and third down offense, but are 28th in scoring offense and 29th in red zone offense. Earlier today former Falcons quarterback and now analyst for the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network Dave Archer joined The Morning Shift and talked about how the Falcons lack of identity in the red zone is causing their scoring issues.
“This is about Atlanta and them finding their identity in the red zone. They’re one of the I think five teams in the National Football League that are in the top ten throwing the ball and running the ball, so you can do both, and you’ve got guys that can do both.” Archer said
The Falcons are averaging 26 points per game at home this season heading into a matchup with a Miami Dolphins team that is currently allowing 29.3 points per game, 30.5 points per game on the road, and has a red zone defense that allows teams to score touchdowns in the red zone 51.6 percent of the time.
If the Falcons can’t score touchdowns against the Dolphins on Sunday and have a proverbial ‘get right game’, this season could go differently than how many expected it to go heading into the start of this season.
