Do the Falcons have the worst roster in the NFL?

Falcons reporter Jarvis Davis disagrees with CBS Sports rankings

The Atlanta Falcons finished last season 7-10 overall and are entering their second year under Head Coach Arthur Smith.

Seven teams finished 2021 with worse records than the Falcons, including the Bears, Texans and Jaguars, who will all be playing with new head coaches when the 2022 season begins on Sept 11.

But according to a recent ranking by CBS Sports, the Atlanta Falcons roster heading into training camp is the worst in the entire league.

Does the trade of QB Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts tumble the Falcons to the bottom of the NFL in talent level below the likes of Detroit or Houston?

When Atlanta Falcons Insider Jarvis Davis was asked by the Midday Show with Andy & Randy if he agreed that the Falcons roster is the worst in the NFL he replied very emphatically, “NO, is my short answer.”

“It’s past disrespectful” commented Jarvis when pointing out the report ranked the Falcons roster below teams with many questions such as the Washington Commanders, NY Giants, and Seattle Seahawks who will have a QB not named Russell Wilson for the first time in over a decade.

Most reports expect for QB Marcus Mariota to be under center for the Falcons when the season begins against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, and although Mariota may not be an upper echelon QB in the NFL, he has more experience and career wins (29) than Drew Lock (8), Daniel Jones (12), Davis Mills (2) and Trevor Lawrence (3) combined in the NFL.

The Falcons also feature Pro Bowl caliber talent at TE (Kyle Pitts), DT (Grady Jarrett), CB (AJ Terrell) and one of the best all-purpose players in the league in RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson.

With those names on the Falcons roster, Jarvis had one question for Andy & Randy.

“Who made this list?” asked Jarvis jokingly when explaining his initial thoughts to the article.

The rankings article does suggest that the list could change when rosters are finalized at the conclusion training camps.

Jarvis, Andy and Randy will be playing close attention for any changes.
