Another member of the 2021-22 Chicago Bears has signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

Signing a one-year deal with the Falcons after six seasons in Chicago, 2016 second-round pick Eddie Goldman becomes the seventh former Bear to join the Falcons this offseason. Former Bears GM Ryan Pace, who drafted Goldman out of Florida State, joined the Falcons front office this offseason.

In 81 career games, Goldman has racked up 13 sacks and 175 tackles, including 18 tackles for loss. He was released back in March coming off career-lows in sacks, solo tackles and TFL in 2021 after opting out of the 2020 season.

The Falcons will hope Goldman can return to his 2019 productivity level as the run-stuffing nose tackle was voted as a Pro Bowl alternate. At 6-3, 325 pounds, Goldman’s size could be beneficial in opening up space along the defensive front for Grady Jarrett.

While 92.9 The Game’s Dukes & Bell know that the move doesn’t make a big splash, Mike Bell, who was familiar with Goldman as a Seminole football aficionado, says that the Falcons' newest defensive lineman—who will compete with Anthony Rush—comes in with the reputation of a “good dirty work guy.”

“He can be a rotational guy and we did need that kind of player on the defensive line, so we’ll see if he can battle and find some game. He’s certainly a guy who's got some experience and he’s got some size, so basically he’d be like a bigger version of Grady Jarrett,” Bell said.

Goldman joins RB Damien Williams, WR Damiere Byrd, OL Germain Ifedi, OL Elijah Wilkinson, DB Jalen Tabor and LS Beau Brinkley as the former Bears to sign with the Falcons this offseason.
