The Atlanta Falcons have already begun sizing down their roster to get to 53 by the 4 P.M. deadline on Tuesday. Friday on the Falcons Radio Network Pregame show Falcons General Manager Terry Fontenot told Wes Durham and Dave Archer that the team is working to form a 53-man roster to “beat Pittsburgh”, and not necessarily a 53-man roster that will look the same for the entire season. Earlier today, The Morning Shift reacted to Fontenot’s comments
“I think a lot of us as fans we sit there right and we go okay when you’re creating your roster and you’re getting down from 90 to 53 these are the guys you want on this team for the entire year, right? That’s how you’re doing it, that’s how I think about, but that’s not how Terry [Fontenot] and Raheem [Morris] are doing it. Beau Morgan said.
Beau continued by talking about how Terry Fontenot and Raheem Morris are all in on making this roster around beating the Steelers in week one.
“It is all about September 8th against the Steelers. It is not the year and what they want.” Beau said.
A NFL roster has a lot of turnover year over, but don’t be surprised if the Falcons make more roster moves than usual week to week, because while the core of this Falcons team won’t change, barring any injuries, it seems like their could be minor changes from week to week that may be specific to the Falcons game plan for that week against whoever their opponent may be.
