The Atlanta Falcons are going for their third straight win on Sunday when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home, and if the Falcons can secure the victory it will be the first time during Arthur Smith’s tenure that Atlanta has won three consecutive games. However, those aren’t the biggest stakes for the Falcons on Sunday. Earlier today, The Morning Shift explained why this game is a huge swing game when it comes to the NFC South standings for Atlanta and Tampa Bay.
If the Falcons can find a way to win on Sunday they will have a full two game lead over the Buccaneers, a sweep of the season series between them and the Bucs, and Atlanta will also remain defeated in the NFC South improving to 4-0.
A win on Sunday will give the Falcons some real breathing room in the division, but if they lose they will be dead even with the Bucs in the division with them both having the same overall record (6-7), division record (3-1), and conference record (4-4). For the Falcons, a win on Sunday gives them breathing room, but a loss puts even more pressure on them moving forward, a classic swing game.
