The Atlanta Falcons full 2026-27 schedule comes out tonight along with the rest of the NFL schedule, and once Atlanta’s schedule is out a lot of Falcons fans will predict what they think the Falcons record will be next season based on the schedule. Well, earlier today The Morning Shift explained why they think the Falcons success this season shouldn’t be based on the team's win-loss record, but based on quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

“Simply figure out what you have in Michael Penix. If you do that one way or another I’m gonna mark this season as a complete success. Whether or not he’s the starter, whether or not Tua [Tagovailoa] starts all of the games, or Michael Penix lights it up for 17. If you simply figure out what you have in him and start building a path forward at the quarterback position I would say that you had a successful year.” Mike Johnson said

With the type of moves and type of free agency deals that Falcons General Manager Ian Cunningham has made so far this offseason it feels like a pretty clear message has been sent that the Falcons are using this season to figure out who is and who isn’t going to be a part of the team’s long term future moving forward with the new regime, and that includes figuring out whether or not Penix is Atlanta’s next franchise quarterback or not, and as long as they get a definitive answer to that question the Falcons will have had a successful season.
