Falcons still in search of identity under Arthur Smith

The Atlanta Falcons are preparing to head to London this weekend in a Week 5 match-up against the New York Jets. Both teams are 1-3 to start the 2021 season.

AtlantaFalcons.com reporter Tori McElhaney joined the Midday Show to talk about what she thinks the identity of the team is under first-year head coach Arthur Smith after a quarter of the season.

"I think it's incredibly honest of me to just kind of say 'I don't know what the identity of this team is yet,'" McElhaney told Andy and Randy.

"I think they're still trying to figure it out. I think this is very much a work in progress, and it's one that I think we'll be able to look back on this year--at the end of it--to kind of give this team an identity. As of right now, I don't know what it is."

In order for the Falcons to turn things around the next four weeks, which players need to be the MVP on both sides of the ball?

Tori, like many of us wants to see first-round draft pick, TE Kyle Pitts, involved.

"Getting him in the end zone and having that moment for him of kind of breaking through the glass ceiling, I think that's going to be important for him."

Defensively, McElhaney said it comes down to the secondary.

"Where's the depth? Who's going to be the guys that are going to step up...I think there are some young guys that are about to get some really, really big opportunities."
