The Carolina Panthers fired head coach Frank Reich on Monday morning, the first NFC South head coach to be let go, but likely not the last. The question isn't as much if anyone else from the division will be fired as much as it is who and when.
The Atlanta Falcons just took over first place in the NFC South and Owner Arthur Blank has remained patient with Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot, and right now it feels like among the remaining 3 NFC South Head coaches that Arthur Smith is most secure.
The Saints under Dennis Allen, who was thrust into the role after Sean Payton abruptly announced his retirement, was 7-10 a season ago, and despite adding Derek Carr to be the franchise QB, may not be able to win the NFC South this year either, and after the question was asked about his job security last year, this year may be the final straw.
Buccaneers Head coach Todd Bowles also came to lead the team due to odd circumstances where Bruce Arians stepped away from the sidelines into a front office role, and while he won the NFC South with Tom Brady in 2022, the team is struggling quite a bit more with Baker Mayfield this season and appear to be facing the long-expected full reset at both QB and other key positions due to salary cap issues.
With Frank Reich already gone and the three remaining NFC South head coaches all having questions being asked about their job, it feel's more like it's not a question of it, but a question of when, at least one of them joins Reich in the unemployment line.
