With their first win of the season in the books, the Atlanta Falcons now turn their attention to the Carolina Panthers for a Week 3 divisional showdown, the second division matchup of the season for Atlanta, who lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their season opener.
And as Atlanta begins their game planning for Carolina and look to build off of the success they had defensively, totaling six sacks in Sunday’s win over the Vikings, offensively, while rushing for a total of 218 yards, Atlanta Falcons Radio Network analyst and former Falcons quarterback, Dave Archer, joined 92-9 The Game’s Dukes and Bell and shared one area of concern.
“The thing that concerns me a little bit more is how big they are up front. Remember, Derrick Brown didn’t play against us last year in either game and now they’ve got Bobby Brown,” Archer said as he explained why the Panthers’ defensive line may cause problems for Atlanta’s run game.
“Eight of their 11 starters defensively are new players, free agent pickups. They went and rebuilt their defense and they are big in the middle,” Archer continued as he discussed Carolina’s defensive line being built with Brown, nose tackle, Bobby Brown and defensive end, A’Shawn Robinson, all weighing at least 300 pounds.
“That’s going to be tough to test them in the middle but one thing you can do you might be able to wall those big guys on the inside and run to the perimeter which is something we’re really good at,” Archer said.
