Falcons will have a quarterback competition if Michael Penix Jr. is good to go by camp

First of the Atlanta Falcons OTAs has been one of promise in regards to quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and the potential for the third-year quarterback to be fully recovered from season ending surgery to repair a partially torn ACL in time for the start of training camp.

However, while the hope for some may be for Penix Jr. to resume his role as the Falcons starting quarterback, new head coach, Kevin Stefanski, along with the new front office consisting of president, Matt Ryan and general manager, Ian Cunningham, and the signing of Tua Tagovailoa, 92-9 The Game’s, John Fricke, believes there will be a quarterback competition to decide who will be under center once the season begins.

“Presuming that [Michael] Penix Jr. is healthy, and what we’re starting to see now in OTAs, is starting to lead me to believe he’s going to be a hundred by training camp, Fricke said as he explained why videos out of the Falcons OTAs leads him to believe Penix Jr. will be back to full strength once camp gets underway.

“We are going to have a quarterback battle,” Fricke said. “The Falcons are expecting it to be a quarterback battle, we’re expecting it to be a quarterback battle,” Fricke added as he shared thoughts on what he believes will be to come for Penix Jr. and Tagovailoa.
