Why the Falcons' run game should thrive against the Cowboys' defense

The Atlanta Falcons, who rank 15th in the NFL this season in rushing yards per game with 120.8 yards on the ground, are taking on the Dallas Cowboys who give up the second most rushing yards per game to their opponents at 154.57, trailing the Carolina Panthers by less than a yard, so it’s safe to bet that the Falcons are going to try and establish the run on Sunday, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why they think Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier, and the Falcons’ ground game will thrive on Sunday.

“I expect us to run the ball a lot, they’ve been very bad against the run, they’ve been very bad at running it, and our game plan has to revolve around Bijan [Robinson] and Tyler [Allgeier] and the efficiency that has been our running game needs to be what carries us to victory on Sunday.” Mike Johnson said.

Speaking of efficiency, the Falcons run game has been the most efficient in the NFL this season as 43.7 percent of the Falcons’ runs have gained five or more yards this season, and that is number one in the league by a wide margin.

It’s also looking like the Cowboys’ All-Pro linebacker and edge rusher Micah Parsons won’t play on Sunday, so that should also help the most efficient running team in the NFL have success on the ground against the second worst rush defense in the NFL.
