The Atlanta Falcons need pass rushers, that much is clear. They have consistently struggled to get after the quarterback and it has cost their defense dearly over this dismal stretch of losing streaks. Terry Fontenot and Raheem Morris figure to be very aggressive this offseason in finding a potential solution, but would they be better suited to avoid trades or free agency?
The Steakhouse discussed the potential positives of making a move like bringing in a Joey Bosa or Trey Hendrickson, but also the negatives with overwhelming costs associated.
Rusty is worried about the costs of doing business with elite edge rushers in the NFL. It is, without questions, one of the more expensive business dealings possible. Look no further than the gigantic $106 million contract that Maxx Crosby just signed with the Raiders.
Not only would the Falcons need to shell out several of their already scarce draft capital, but they would also be forced to pay out a mega-contract that they cannot afford.
After factoring in all of this, and Rusty says it's, "slim to none that the Falcons make it work."
Now, this does not mean that the Falcons should not pursue talented edge rushers. They just need to focus their efforts on finding him in the draft instead of the shopping the open market.
