
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – If you bought a Lotto ticket in the Dunning neighborhood of Chicago, you may want to check it right away!
According to the Illinois Lottery, a convenience store in Dunning sold a $16.5 million winning Lotto ticket in the Saturday, June 27 drawing.
The winning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven, located at 5959 W. Belmont Ave., in Dunning and matched all six numbers – 13 - 16 - 19 - 28 - 39 - 43 – to win the jackpot.
The franchise owner, Zuhair Toma, will receive a bonus of $165,000 (one percent of the prize amount) for selling the winning ticket.
According to Illinois Lottery, this is the largest win for Toma, who has been selling lottery tickets at his store for over 23 years. He is planning on using the bonus to further his children’s education.
More than 101,000 other prizes, ranging from $1 to $1,627, were won in this Lotto drawing. In all, players won more than $16.7 million in this drawing.
The Illinois Lottery urges the lucky winner to sign the back of their ticket, keep it in a safe place, and call 1-800-252-1775 for more information on how to claim their prize.
According to Illinois Lottery, winners have one year from the date of the winning draw in which to claim their prize. Lotto drawings are held once a day, three days a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
