A film actor who has battled two types of cancer is talking about the importance of getting your screenings back on the books.
Ernie Hudson was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1998 and recovered. Then, in 2011, he was told he had rectal cancer.
The “Ghostbusters” co-star, who is 74 and now cancer-free, says he doesn’t want others to get blindsided like he was.
Hudson is serving as spokesperson for the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s “Think About the Link” campaign. It publicizes the link between certain viruses — including HPV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C — and cancer.
“Inform yourself, talk to your doctor,” Hudson says. “Don’t wait for them to bring it up and don’t get swayed by a lot of misinformation.”
