CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Navigating today’s job market may be tough – especially with so much competition. An expert at a Chicago-based job search company has some advice.
Those certifications that you thought about going for, but put off because of work, and now you’re out of work – well now is the time to get them and put them on the resume.
Brandi Frattini with CareerBuilder said you should also go online and search for job postings and job descriptions that you’re interested in and want to apply for – then take key words and industry terms that you see in those postings and use them on your resume.
"Because hiring teams and recruiters wrote those postings and those job descriptions, so those are going to be the terms that they are looking for in their search," she said.
Frattini also said take advantage of virtual job fairs, and after an interview, be sure to email a thank you, within 24 hours.
