(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Stocks surged higher Thursday as tech shares and easing geopolitical tensions helped push all three of the major averages to fresh intraday and closing highs.
The S&P 500 added 21, the NASDAQ surged nearly 75 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up over 211 points, settling to 28,956.
"I think investors are struggling with two things, success and where do we pull back from the Apples, Googles and the Amazons that just keep on going ever higher?" says Matt Shapiro, president of MWS Capital.
Shapiro also noted a solid upcoming earnings season is key to supporting these higher levels.
